On 06/04/13 at approximately 10:18 PM the Manheim Borough Police Department was dispatched to the area of Sr 283, west bound, just west of Strickler Road for a male laying on the outside berm of the roadway.
Officers arrived to find the male laying on berm of the west bound lanes of Sr 283 deceased. From evidence found at the scene, it appeared that the male had exited his vehicle, which was pulled to west bound side of the roadway and was struck by another vehicle that was west bound on Sr 283.
The striking vehicle was not located at the scene and is believed to have left after striking the man.
Police believe the potential suspect vehicle could possibly have moderate to severe front end damage with visible damage to the front of the vehicle, the windshield and headlight.
At the time of the accident, the striking vehicle would have been west bound on Sr 283 between 10:00 PM and 10:15 PM and continued west bound after striking the man.
The Manheim Borough Police are requesting anyone with information related to the accident to contact police. Individuals who may have seen as suspicious vehicle near the location of the accident, or sees a suspicious vehicle with damage consistent with this accident are to call the Manheim Borough Police Department at 717-665-2481. Officer Kristopher Keller, in conjunction with the Lancaster County Northwest Crash Team, the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, and the Lancaster County Corners office are investigating the incident which is ongoing.
